And will Miss Medusa, the computer teacher, be able to keep her sunglasses on without turning the entire student body to stone? “My grade 10 class had a great time producing and presenting the play, Exposed! Eight 10-Minute Scenes About What Really Happened. The flexible casting was ideal for a large class. The 10 minute scene made the rehearsal process easy to manage, and enabled each group to take responsibility for their scene. Most of the roles were reasonably challenging, with a lesser number of roles for weaker students. Overall, this was a teacher and student friendly play to produce. Our audience enjoyed it as well.

On October 15th the three hundred-plus students of Charles M. Russell High School in Great Falls, MT wake up to find everyone else in town has vanished. As they investigate, they discover a Wall of Light, following the town’s border, has completely surrounded Great Falls. Unable to find their missing families, or see through the Wall of Light, the students are forced to put aside their differences and reform society. But what happens when the Wall of Light starts moving inward, pushing them closer and closer to the school? What will happen when there’s no where else to go and the Light passes over them? A high school AP Literature class is taken hostage by one Ms. Rabbitoff. The clearly insane substitute teacher is what they call a “serial Bacon-er”, i.e., someone who is so driven to prove that Francis Bacon wrote the complete works of Shakespeare that she’ll do anything to convince students. Using hilarious, twisted mashups of scenes from Shakespeare’s plays and classic literature (Macbeth + The Miracle Worker, Romeo and Juliet + Moby Dick, etc.), BAD SUBSTITUTE is a hilarious way to examine those English class reading lists.
